There are many ways to skill the students so as to help them in placements / recruitment. The first and traditional way is to deliver some kind of training course in the topic.

In ASU, the departments are concerned with offering practical training and internships programs to its students to act in accordance with its philosophy of practical application of theories and modern concepts. Thereby all students in all departments must complete a practical training program as a mandatory requirement for graduation; through which students complete an internship program which commensurate with the nature of his degree at a local or regional organization which enables the student to be prepared to perform the jobs and tasks required from his after graduation.

Universities can do the following for students:

Besides pure theory, undergraduate students during the 8 semesters will  take lots of practical and lab works, too. We also changed the curricula recently by adding new courses such as entrepreneurship. Additionally, in our department students do a research project during the last semester. They also are send to relevant firms or agricultural centers for about 300 hours of industry training or in field works. Internship is other possibility.

However, lately, there are two school of thoughts (groups) prevailed in agricultural disciplines of our university: One group think the fore-mentioned program is standard and good enough. Others think the student should spent a whole semester or two in field works or firms if they want to be a good (agriculture) scientist or engineer. I personally am in favor of the the first group.

I believe in helping students on both hard and soft skills (both personal and interpersonal ones).

I believe that each university must have Student Employment Services which is a Recruitment and Employment Agency. This agency should organize seminars of how to write a CV, how to take advantage of network like Linkedin, etc. and find a recruitment etc.

Dear Costas Drossos - Many American Universities have an "Engineering Communication Center" or "Engineering Communication Department" which help students to improve their soft-skills, and help them with CV, etc. The University I studied helped me on "Technical Communication" and recommended me to read a book on the same subject by Mike Markel!

Yes indeed dear @Sundarapandian, we are honored! Prof. Mahfouz Judeh is the President of the Applied Science University; he contributed a lot to high education in Jordan.

Well few key points,

1. MOST IMP. - Preparing students to write a perfect CV/Resume (Poor resume/CV leads to early elimination)

2. Pre-placement training (for both written exam and interview)

3. Demo workshop (for interview) - how to dress before leaving for interview board room, personality etc.

4. Form groups among students and let them participate in group discussion

5. Help students choose an appropriate career path (selection of companies based on their domain/appropriate matching of skills)

5. To enhance their technical skills, ask the faculties associated with any department to help their department students by organizing weekly reviews

Being "professional" is the key! This comes by having excellent technical communications, skills in writing placement exam and facing interview, proper dress code and choosing appropriate career path etc.

In India, many colleges provide official dress themselves to all boys and girls (blazer suit) and they are expected to come in the official dress for the training programs, and company placement interviews. The engineering colleges / universities also have a rule that once a student (boy or girl) is placed in a company, he / she won't be eligible to appear for campus placement with any other company so as to help more students to get placement (job) in companies.

1. Fixing the aim where individual wants to work and elevate.

2. Choosing the Guru (Teacher) or Guide or Mentor.

3. Availability and collecting the materials and relevant seminar, webinar details.

4.READ, REVIEW AND RECAPITULATION.

5. Preparation and effective presentation

6. Doing each micro management activity with interest and involvement

7. Use the available means to extract the maximum optimal solution for the brainstorming problems.

8. positive mind and creative thinking, developing the skill of art from the waste.

9.Social commitment and benefit.

10. Good human being and personality to share and comment the views with professional ethics.

In our(medical and para medical) field Practical skill is must to successfully run your own clinical practice Oor in Acedemics to teach it to the students..

I think practicing thing over n over is Must in learning as well as retaining skills..

I fully agree with the comment made by Dhara that practical skills are very important for medical and para medical students. There is a popular saying - "Practice leads to perfection". Doctors need to be very precise in performing surgery, etc.

I agree with the most above answers. I want to add to have a field training course during their study (summer course).
