I recently read a good article "Analysis: Skilling the Student" which discusses about employing students from the employer's point of view, and how to prepare the students (skilling them) appropriately. In addition to securing good grades in the core academic programme, students also need to equip themselves with additional skills. The importance of soft-skills (good communication) is known to all institutions and they conduct special training programmes on the same. In addition, value-added courses, software training, foreign languages training, industry training all give good exposure to students to make them "multi-skilled" and face the interviews / new jobs in a confident manner. Your views on this topic - how to skill the students - are welcome.
