Anyone can help me to simulate crater formation in Electrical discharge machining process for different dielectric medium. it will help me a lot in my research work.
There are two ways to simulate the crater geometry of Die-sinking EDM. Actually, crater geometry (basically crater diameter/ radius) can be estimated based on the isotherm distribution (temperature distribution) pattern inside the crater. There are so many models, but the outcomes of the Di-Bitento's model can give a close approach to the experimental results (way 1). Finite element method can also use to determine the crater diameters (way 2). But for both the cases MATLAB codes are required, which will run the governing equations according to the selected boundaries (boundary conditions). Then the synchronization of MATLAB and ANSYS Fluent is required, so that the solid model (developed in ANSYS) can be run by the instructions given by the MAT LAB codes. Here, I am attaching one link for you. I hope it will be helpful for you.
Regarding the issue of 'Crates for different dielectric', no as such establish model is available, which is dielectric-sensitive. As per my knowledge a 'Dielectric sensitive crater model' is still in developing stage. However, if we can measure the resistance of the discharge column for different dielectrics, then maybe it is possible to make one dielectric-sensitive model.
