I have to perform the GC-MS of bio-oil obtained from pyrolysis of biomass. Since I have never used a GC-MS on my own I am unaware of the best choice for a syringe filter for the same.
Is it just better to use 0.2 micron filter if I am not sure about the particle size in my sample?

Use PTFE material and 0.22 um filters if possible. Avoid PVDF and cellulosic materials. Also, centrifuge prior to filtering at high speed. Thanks,

In what solvent do you dissolve you biomass oil? Do you centrifugate the mixture before filtration. The selection of the filter mebrane material depends on the solvent you use?
