You need to do the following steps:

- sudo su

- ./configure

- ./configure LINUXAMD64 OPENGL

@martin Thanks for your reply. But I am unable to figure out how to install libOpenGL.so.0

Any help in this regard??

well.. the software did get installed. Its working now. But I had to call it from the bin folder of vmd, with the command: ./vmd
