We have had the Thermo Scientific™ HM 355S Automatic microtome for a while and nobody in our lab is using it. I was wondering whether you could help me with how to remove the specimen holder (see pic) from the Thermo Scientific™ HM 355S Automatic microtome if that does not bother you. It looks like we need a specific screwdriver but we do not have it.

my answer intended only to propose 'possibilities'...nevertheless but knowing it might be not really helpful in the end:
i) Can you find any Service-Instruction-/Operating Manual for that MICROM HM355S Model?....
ii) I was able to find some pdf's regarding the 'Operating Manual' for that model when searching the web. in that manuals subsections for (e.g.)
"2.-11-3 CHANGING AND/OR CLAMPING SPECIMEN CLAMP" , and / or
"2-11-4 READJUSTING SPECIMEN CLAMPS"
Usually, there are NO 'Repair Manuals' available via web, despite their existence in former times...
iii)Unfortunately I personally was not working with that type of Paraffin-/ modified Cryo- / Freezing- / frozen specimen microtome.... but if NOBODY else will insert an answer to your question, in the 'worst-scenario case' I'd propose you might try:

(since from their actual website they appear to maintain and repair that type of modified microtome....
(iv) I am not aware of any ThermoScientific representative or website, who or from which you might be offered any information about the requested matter.
(usually one needs some sort of screwdriver (fitting the slit) or eventually also a suitable Allen key (set, or 'hex head wrench'...) if there is an Allen screw to be opened).
As of your image I'd try to first undo screw with the slit, if that doesn't fit: with regard to the clamp-handle/pivot to the right: if you can't remove the freezing specimen holder by turning the pivot (perhaps this also is called 'clamping lever'??) anti-clockwise (= e.g. from position 12:00 to position say 08:00 or 06:00) unscrew the vertically oriented 'handle' (right side of image, which might be used to tighten the carrier on the 'base-pivot' ) and then unscrew the horizontally positioned pivot by means / aid of an appropriate 'chopstick' through the screw-hole...and see what happens then...]
Any more detailed info about your problem / trouble shooting available?

Usually, removing the holder is standard among microtomes.
Therefore, I found in youtube the following video.

You can see in the minutes 10:30 to 11:15 the procedure to remove the specimen holder.
and yes, you need a Tool wrench "Allen" or "bristol" (name in Latin America). They are L-shaped and hexagonal.
