Has anyone successfully removed the carbohydrate groups from erythromycin to retain only the parent macrocyclic lactone ring? Or do you have an idea of the chemical reactions to remove them? Please share your thought. Thank you.
Removing those groups requires cleavage of ether which is very difficult.
You can try TMSI which is used to cleave ether.
Thanks Greg.
I hope you give an illustrative example with the chemical structure..
You are absolutely right Mugunthan Govindarajan
Please go through my Abstract. I can also share a proposed Thesis Outline.
