1. Good sanitary practices like washing hands before touching or eating food items.
2. Wash all vegetables thoroughly to get rid of not only pesticides but other organisms that may be dwelling on them
3. If you are unsure of the quality of water, boil it, cool it and then refrigerate it for drinking purposes.
4. Store food items which are perishable in a refrigerator or in a cool place like the basement of a house.
5. Avoid cross contamination for example by cleaning cutting board surfaces, not mixing uncooked meat with cooked meat, etc.
Hand washing always should solve a major part of the problem. Ensure food is properly washed and prepared.
Wash hands prior to eating. Try to eat packaged foods and properly processed foods.
