I collected the water sample from pond and 1 ml of pond sample diluted with 9ml with water and 100 microliter was cultured into the MacConkey agar plates .Finally,80 colonies were formed in the plate .So, the CFU/ML 8000CFU/ML right???
From here,my question is how can i change these CFU/ML value into 100 CFU/ML and 10000 CFU/ML value....
Why would you do that in first place.
Second, in CFU counting is a very rough method and nothing can be concluded by single plate counting, until several replicates were done and then final calculation.
Abhijeet Singh is correct that you should have replicates to have any certainty. But your math is correct (8000 CFU/ml).
I've also never heard of 100 CFU/ML or 10,000 CFU/ML but logic would dictate those are just standardized dilutions. So it's a math conversion to get there (I presume it would be 80 and 0.8)
