I am not sure if I get you correctly. Do you want to identify and then to quantify or do you already know the compound ? However, in general, it is better to use chromatographic method such as HPLC. Here, you have the chance to separate (to take a look at a profile), to identify single compounds and to quantify the compounds of interest.
