How to protect thiol group?

I want to make ether from mercaptoethanol. How can I protect protect and deprotect thiol group for ether synthesis?

Trityl group is commonly used to protect thiols.

At the end of your synthesis, deprotection is acheived via treatment with TFA (trifluoroacetic acid) in DCM (dichloromethane, dry) at room temperature, in the presence of TIPS (Triisopropylsilane, scavenger). It is a quick reaction, 30 min will be fine. Use dry solvent
