How do you stabilize your Ag NPs ? I presume that Ag NPs are stabilized in presence of citrate present in the solution. If it is stabilized by organic ligands, then there might be a less chance of dissolving.

It's better to dissolve the AgNP in 5% nafion solution, probably it will help you not to dissolve into solutions but keep in mind that the nafion can only be active in aqueous medium and in non-aqueous it will dissolve as nafion membrane can only pass H+ through its pore.

Yes, the silver nanoparticles are stabilized by citrate.  My problem is that I need the citrate for my experiment and can't exchange it for other organic ligands. Thanks for the suggestion though!

@Zhoxia Qian : It is a conventional method and frequently used by electrochemist. In this method, any chemical moiety can be bound to the electrode surface and the advantage is it is water insoluble. Taking 5% nafion is due to prevent excessive thick layer over the electrode surface. Nafion will just help to keep bind the desired chemical entity stable when dipping into aqueous solution, excessive concentration of nafion will block the connection of the modified electrode with the electrolyte and hence you will get current overload.
