Dear all,
I have prepared TEM specimens by jet electropolishing on side one using TENUPOL 5 (samples: Steels; polishing solution: 10% HClO4 and 90% CH3OH at voltage of 20V; Temperature of -25oC). There are two problems
+ the hole is big.
+ the electrolyte which flows through the hole leads to oxide formation on other side one around the hole
Please show me how to fix this problems

Hi Tiep,
First, you have to consider composition of your steel. The electrolyte you used is very common and work quite well for many steels, but some higly alloyed steel need another electrolyte or at least modification in ratio of HClO4 and CH3OH.
- if you have huge hole after polishing, try to adjust ligth-stopper to more sensitivity or decrease the electrolyte flow rate.
- to avoid the corrosion of final sample, which is a worse signal, I recommend you to decrease the voltage and/or temperature.
If these changes does not helps, think about changing of the electrolyte.
