I want to prepare MnZn ferrite ferrofluid. But the problem I am facing is the surface modification to avoid agglomeration of the particles. I am following the hydrothermal synthesis method for the preparation of ferrofluid. I am using MnCl2.4H2O, ZnCl2, FeCl3.6H2O as starting precursor. After getting the nanoparticles, how to modify the surface using Oleic acid for water based ferrofluid.

Dear Mr. Mekap,
For general aspect of preparation of Magnetic Nanoparticles the surfactant property is essential. in most cases of ferrofluid preparation molten-salt method is suggested by authors. But in your case instead of oleic acid try Citric acid and acityle acetone as surface modifier.
