Can you give me the detail information of depth resolved cathodoluminescence experiment for ZnO nanowires/Si sample. I also want to know that how much beam is penetrating into ZnO nanowire for a given Electron accelerating bias voltage.
Good day. About electron penetration depth - i suppose the easier way to estimate it is to use any modeling software like casino 2/3. (http://www.gel.usherbrooke.ca/casino/). For example, for 10 kV accelerating voltage casino 2.4 gives about 300 nm penetration depth into ZnO.
MC simulations will tell you the depth profile of the electrons in SEM but not so easily where the light signal comes from because what you detect depends on the (energy dependent) cross-section and the self-absorption in the sample and possible light guiding/ reflection effects at the free surface.
