Hi,

I am looking for a simple model that describes the cost of replacing UPS batteries in a data center as a function of how often the battery is charged/discharged.

Ideally, I am looking for a relationship that tells you that if you discharge/charge the battery's energy by a certain amount and with a certain frequency per month, then the battery's lifetime will decrease by an (x) amount of time. This decrease in battery's lifetime will have  a certain operation cost (since the battery will be replaced earlier).

I know that the model is way more complicated in reality as the battery lifetime is not only dependent on the charged/discharged energy and how often the battery is charged/discharged but also on how much energy the battery stores (Depth of Discharge) when it discharges and on how fast the energy is being charged/discharged. What I am interested in however is a SIMPLE approximate model that hides such details.

Thank you,

Mehiar
