I am running a coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian simulation (CEL) using Abaqus_explicit. The aims of the model is to simulate the pipe soil interaction and to compute the axial resistance. I modelled the pipe as a shell element S4R and the soil as eulerain domain while the interface was modelled using the general contact all with self with the use of the hard contact with the penalty method approach to model tangential behavior.

Giving that I want to reproduce the same magnitude of shear stress on the pipe soil interface as well as the value of soil strength, I have fixed a high friction coefficient value with a limit value to the shear stress from the tangential behavior option.

The problem is when I move the pipe axialy, it does not reproduice the same magnitude of stress and I obtaine less value of friction force than expected regarding the contact area with soil.
