Hi, I'm trying to measure a hole in a piece using MITK software. Firt of all, I set the values of grayscale, then I separeted the piece from the background and then I used the Growing Region 3D Segmentation Tool to create a segmentation of the hole from my piece and finally I did a poligonal model of the segementation. The next thing that I need to do is know the volume of the segmentation. I think that I have to do a mask of the poligonal model using Image Masking from Segmentation Utilities, but when I try it the software can't hold it and doesn`t work.
It's a problem of my computer processing unit or a mistake in my workflow?

[EDIT] I just found the answer: once you create the interpolation and obtain a polygonal volume from your previous segmentation, you have to select both the MRI/CT volume you work on and your interpolation. Volume measurement and other stuff will be displayed in the "statistics" utility.
Clément Dupont That's right. You have to select both, your CT images set and then the segmentation (with ctrl). I did it in another way too, creating a poligonal model from my segmentation, exporting like .stl and opening the file in a stl viewer that shows parameters like volumen. Thank you so much.
PD: With segmentation is enough to it works, poligonal model it isn't necessary , unless you want to obtain a .stl file or other. Moreover, you can do it with 3D segmentations like growing region. interpolation gives good models, but if you work with little segmentations like me, it's better growing region option and then obtain the volumen as you say. It works with all kind of segmentations, it is right. Thank you for your answer.
I observed a difference between the volume measurement obtained from the segmentation and the interpolation. I assume that the volume measurement stemming from the interpolation takes into account the slice thickness (and not in the case with the segmentation only), which could explain this difference.
Have you also tried to measure the surface of your interpolation? I could not find this property anywhere.
3D segmentations gives you the volumen too, but the volumen created is rawer than interpolation as you can see comparing the pictures attached. As you can perceive, the joint between surfaces is stablished in the same direction of the projection from which I started the region growing 3D. In interpolation you have to delineate several planes in all projections, therefore the volumen obtained is smoother than my 3D sementation because you have many points in all directions that guide the joints between planes in a better way. Moreover, the interpolation volume depends on your planes in quantity and quality, too. Differences in volumen could come from all this things I think, maybe i could be wrong.
About surface, you could export a poligonal model in .stl format and open it in Autodesk Fusion 360, turn it into a solid object and see the properties. The last picture shows it, I think that this is the area of surface.
This is my first work with CT analysis and I could be wrong with what I say, correct me if I made an outrageous.
PD: I don't know if the differences that you saw is greater tan mines, for me are explained by the reasons that I set out before.
