There are autonomous sensor systems to be placed in the autoclave, allowing periodic controls of the equipment parameters, giving indications on the operation of the sterilizer and also allowing the recording and processing of the physical parameters of a sterilization cycle.
Pressure sensors measure the pressure of the saturated water vapor inside the vessel. There are different kinds of pressure sensors like the sensor on picture 1 or the strain gauge sensor (picture 2). The acquisition of pressure values at no load or at load is done for every sterilization cycle and the leakage test is necessary for a good functioning of the autoclave. The sensor continuously detects the pressure in the vessel and as soon as there is a slight difference between the measured value and the setpoint, the pressure is brought back to the setpoint value.
