Hi all,
I know of methods to measure the pKa of a substance which has a positive pKa, but how would you do it for a negative pKa value? Are there any experimental methods known which are capable of doing this? I assume there would be a method for doing this, as the pKa of things such as chloride, bromide and iodide are known.

I'm not familiar with measuring negative pKas. That said, you can try benchmarking it by seeing if it protonates NaX (X = Cl, Br, I, etc.) and get an estimate of it's pKa. You could also model it with DFT calculations. I've calculated pKa values in acetonitrile (not the same as in water, it has a wider pKa window and things are different).
