How to measure the optical spectrum of an all fiber Lyot (based) filter in the experiment ?

The simulation of an all fiber Lyot filter can be done easily. However, in the experiment, the sinusoidal output spectrum cannot be observed after the ASE passes through the lyot (based) filter. why? and how to measure the spectrum?
