I am building a solar desalination still and the inside glass temperature is required for the condition whether the glass has attained the dew point temperature of the vapor inside the still. I am using a thermocouple that is stuck on the glass using a transparent tape inorder to reduce the opaqueness of the object. But the radiation falling on the thermocouple increases its temperature than the glass temperature. I would like an alternative approach without this problem.
It is not just the measurement process that is the issue - it is what the measurement actually means. Since a lot of the heating of the glass occurs due to absorbed IR, if you reflect the IR, you won't get an accurate measurement. I don't agree that a measurement using a thermocouple is necessarily incorrect. Just be aware of what you are measuring.
