I am working on electrocatalytic nitrate reduction from a water solution. I want to measure the concentration of nitrate, nitrite and ammonia available in water solution at different times using UV spectrophotometer. So, how I can measure them using UV spectrophotometer?
Dose that mean the solutions are free of organics? If so the ions nitrate and nitrate absorb in the UV. So far as I know you'd need to do a colorimetric reaction for ammonia, or use a gas diffusion ammonia electrode.
Dear Paul Milham What is the maximum concentration of nitrates we can measure using UV spectrophotometer? I saw that the Hach kits (used in UV spectrophotometry) can be used for for measuring very concentration of nitrates only.
Extra sensitivity is an advantage. Just dilute accurately!! It should minimise interferences.
