I am doing experimental research work on Pulse Tube Cryocooler. I need to find out what the coefficient of discharge is through a rotary valve which is used to control the frequency of operation between system and helium compressor. Can anyone suggest how to measure coefficient of discharge of oscillating helium gas flow?
For sure you should construct a set-up with a PD(pressure differential with capability of on-line connection to computer) ,a thermocouple probe for measuring temperature of He(on-line connection to computer) entering the valve and a calibrated digital mass flow meter(with capability of on-line connection to computer). Then you will see three on-line curves on computer . then you should be able to write a small program using the points on these curves at each moment and using the relation between mass flow rate, discharge coefficient, DP, and density
