As exactly as any medical one!

Suppose you have a standard (transistor) who''s age is 6 years!? another company produced another transistor which can operate for 10 years!?

The question should I introduce this new transistor in my device?

Off course there should be at least 3 studies before which compare the 2 transistors age

All what you do is take the number of transistors in each study and their mean age and standard deviation.

Finally you calculate the standardized mean difference SMD evaluate whether the new transistor is worth using? or not?

In doing meta-analysis in engineering areas, the following databases would help. I used all of them, in order to minimize the possible effects of 'shelf bias', as they aggregate a good number of journals in Engineering domain.

In engineering sciences, the commitment of metanalysis is much easier than medicine indeed......

For example, you wanted to test an oil coming from Kuwait versus another one coming from Iraq about how much frequency should you change it in your car?

there is two to way to express data for this example either as a percentage or mean and standard deviation. for the sake of simplicity, we choose the percentage for how many persons change oil per 10,000 kilometers.

so you have made a deal with 3 sellers of oil to report how many frequently their customers come to change oil all are using the german made cars and don't know which type of oil fit for their cars??? the key point is to test the used oil after driving 10,000 km is it spoiled or still doing well?! !!!!!65

seller A 100 Kuwait oil user 80 were found that the oil at the exchange is still functioning while 100 Iraqi oil users reported 77 were still good?

1- Iraqi or Kuwaiti oil mean LUBRICANT OIL!

2- the odd ratio is not significant if it contains the number (1) within its 95% confidence interval whether for random or fixed model wise, otherwise if the range of 95% CI doesn't contain the number (1) within its limit then it is significant

Dear Eshetie Berhan , Bereket Haile Woldegiorgis . I am new into the meta-analysis concept. Having done a little reading and watched videos on youtube I understand there are different kinds of meta-analysis. And the type of estimate also depends on the data, the field and the relationships that exists in theory.

I am from an engineering field. I am working on Lifecycle assessment (LCA) of wastewater treatment plants(WWTPs). I want to understand the reasons for variations and the extent of these variations in LCA studies. This looks like a problem that could be tackled with meta-analysis.

My little thesis question is ''Among WWTPs, compared using LCA, what are the effect of 2 factor such and technical and methods factors(each factor has about three levels) on the outcome (energy use, GWP, ATP etc.)''.

Could you kindly suggest the type of Meta-analysis, estimates/ratios, random/fixed effect model, and reference material that could be of help. thank you
