I've made Ag2S and As2S3 powder. What is an efficient way to make AgAsS2 power from those powders? Simply mixing and annealing? How about dissolving them in n-butylamine and drying?
The two powders (Ag2S and As2S3), well-mixed in equimolar basis, can be melted in vacuum or inert gas atmosphere by 500─550 ºC. Glass of composition AgAsS2 can be obtained after quenching to room temperature. Synthetic trechmannite was reportedly obtained by prolonged crystallization of such a glass at 290 ºC for over one week, while at 320─421 ºC smithite was crystallized in less than one day (*).
