I am planning to run a polyurethane reaction which has two monomers: one is a diisocyanate and the other is a diol. However the diisocyanate is not forming a homogenous mixture with the diol. The reaction is a bulk reaction and I do not intend to add any solvent. Does phase transfer catalysts like crown ether work in such case where the system is devoid of any ions?
You could probably find something like the crown ether to make the two compatible - but that is essentially a solvent, isn't it?
Does the miscibility of the monomers change with temperature?
I will try crown ether. Even at high Temp the monomers are immiscible.

To mix two immiscible liquids, it is necessary to add a third component of a surfactant or a fourth component. Then the change in Gibbs energy of mixing the components decreases.
