i’m currently working on a liquid biofertilizer formulation using a bacterial consortium. The initial pH is around 4, and I aim to maintain it in the range of 6–7 throughout fermentation.

I’ve tried several buffering systems, including CaCO₃, NaHCO₃, and phosphate buffers (Na₂HPO₄ / NaH₂PO₄). I also attempted to adjust the pH using Na₂HPO₂ to increase alkalinity. While these approaches slightly improve pH stability, by day 5 of fermentation, the pH still drops back to around 4 — although it's marginally better than the control.

Does anyone have experience or suggestions on how to better stabilize the pH in this range during fermentation with a microbial consortium?

Looking forward to your insights. Thanks! 😊
