Hi,
does anybody know how to look up the taxid of the source organism of a given gi number? For example, the entry for the gi 484231589 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/nuccore/484231589 would result in the taxid 1121365.
I found the large table ftp://ftp.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pub/taxonomy/gi_taxid_nucl.zip where I could retrieve most of my gi of interest, but there are still some more outdated gi numbers I need to look up. Do you know if there exist a table like the mentioned for the discontinued gi numbers?
