The Standard datasheet (SDS) for the Li-ion battery will tell you the measured life cycle of the Li-ion battery. Otherwise, the battery voltage will change if the cyclic stability is decaying compare to the fresh one.

Prolonged cyclic GCD and CV are some of the techniques to analyze the life cycle of the battery.

I need some clarification in this logic for checking life-cycle of cell that i have.

In the Cell datasheet, it shows some life cycle curves as attached (@0.5C discharge).

What if I perform capacity test for cell at 0.5C and compare the percent capacity obtained with rated capacity of cell and plot that Retention Capacity with the attached curve and obtain life cycle.

For eg: If I get Retention Capacity of 90% then can I assume 1500cycles completed as per attached curve.

Please clarify my point

Battery manufacturers (should) have a MTBF (Mean-Time-Before-Failure) or lifespan metric, that helps to estimate the life-time of a new battery[1,2] for a standard load[3-7].

A battery is an electrical power source for a standard operation of (portable) load (devices)[4-7]. Each device ('s mode of operation) demands certain specifications (datasheets about: voltage, energy, power, impedance[7], duty cycle etc.) from their standard source (battery).

So, some parts of the very high power batteries (EVs: Electric Vehicle, and other[9]) can be repurposed for other (2nd l i f e) uses, having lower power specifications[9,10].
