How to know EDC (1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-carbodiimide) powder is still usable through its appearance?

EDC is a chemical widely used to couple amine and carboxylated compounds to form an amide linkage. However, this chemical is moist sensitive and easily hydrolyzed when in contact with water, losing its function. To avoid the use of non-functional EDC resulting in failed conjugation reaction, is there any method to identify whether the EDC is still functioning through its appearance in powder form?

If the EDC looks like a pure white crystal powder, then it is probably working. If it is off-white and caramelized (sticky flakes may also form), then it is deteriorated.
