I'm doing a metabolic tracing of glucose on 2 conditions in cell lines. One is treated with a drug. While it is more obvious that I can deduce the altered metabolism rate of glucose and it's metabolites by looking at the labeled fraction and pattern, I am not sure if the unlabeled fraction also tells u sth. More specifically, I wonder if the unlabeled fraction can be interpret as the shift of the metabolism profile of the cell in each condition (while the labeled fraction is the shift of metabolism upon receiving glucose)?

The current limitation of my experiments is I do not have time 0 data. I only get 0.5, 1, 2, and 24 hours. I just want to know if I can deduce the "baseline" by looking at the unlabeled fraction.

I also have another group of experiment that is traced with labeled glutamine. I want to know if the interpretation will be the same.
