Dear all
I am currently doing an experiment to investigate the interaction between my drug and polymer. However, I am unsure how to analyse if there is any interaction from my ATR-FTIR spectra. I have obtained the spectra for my pure drug, pure polymer and a mixture of both. I have seen some forums saying that an interaction can be postulated from shifts in the peaks. Other than that, is there any other way to know?

The peaks in FTIR spectrum correspond to the presence of chemical species (functional group?) in your sample. There are a lot of sources available as FTIR databases which can tell you what chemical specie, a peak at specific wave number represents. For example, the presence of C=O is indicated by the presence of a peak at 1740-1720 (/cm). It will be important to note that only the species that are active in the infra red region are sensitive to this technique. Please check the website below:

Vanessa Tan, not sure what you mean by "mixture" in your question? If you mean you somehow made the polymer react with the drug you are testing and want to know if the polymer now consists of some chemical species of the drug then I would say that the PURIFIED "mixture" should have peaks of both the polymer and the drug in the spectra. You may (or not) also see additional peaks indicating a reaction has taken place giving out additional products. Try analyzing your samples on an XRD which will give an elemental analysis for your sample.
