How to increase the velocity of ABAQUS with UMAT?

Dear all,

I am using a model with softening.

For it, I have to change a parameter of the model according to mesh size (element characteristic length) with UMAT. Of course, this parameter does not change during the process. I only call it in the first iteration (with KINC) but the program still runs so slowly for this one.

Could you give me an advice, please!
