Data Import: Ensure that the imported latitude and longitude data points (asc format) for the species' distribution cover the entire range of the Americas. Verify that the data points for the North and South Americas are correctly included in the dataset.

Coordinate System: Confirm that both the geographic coordinate system (GCS) of the distribution points and the world map in ArcGIS (ArcMap) are set to GCS_WCG_1984, as you mentioned. In ArcMap, you can go to the "Data Frame Properties" to verify and adjust the coordinate system if necessary.

Map Extent: Check the map extent settings in ArcGIS. It's possible that the current map extent is limited, causing the distribution points for the Americas to be outside the visible area. You can adjust the map extent by zooming out or setting specific geographic coordinates to encompass the entire range of the species' distribution.
