K model is a model which says that you need a minimum of k sensors to monitor a target. This model helps overcome problems like battery life of sensors and their energy consumption. Genetic Algorithm is used to select the k sensors that would monitor a target at a time.

If you have NetSim & MATLAB then this would be pretty easy to implement. Use NetSim for the WSN Simulation and MATLAB for the genetic algorithm. Subsequently you can just interface the two. There are examples explaining this in http://tetcos.com/file-exchange.html
