An analyst has to identify the right analytical tool/s and develop sound method/s using his analytical ability, knowledge, experience, judgement, intuition given the nature and kind of sample matrix.

It depends on kind of polymeric matrix, it's properties, applications....

First isolate and clean the filler particle surface. Then SEM / EDX will tell you the elements. Best regards, Armin (very important is the sample preparation)

Common error is based on the fact that lab and reality are two different world. The lab is in a nano or micro space, while plant people think in kg. Ask somebody from the plant to sent a sample to the lab and you are already done. It is essential to find and isolate the particle in question, before giving it to the analytical lab technician. This intermediate step is a MUST !

knowing what you're looking for help. when one speaks about foaming nucleating agent TiO2 and talc are often used. for crystallization it is often another m-polymer that crystallize easier. what's the purpose of the polymer grade? hig flow low flow? UV protection? fire retardancy... reinforcement?
