Hi dear Scholar,
I am Ihtisham Ul Haq, MPhil Research Scholar at the Department of Microbiology, Quaid I Azam University. I am investigating the ciprofloxacin degradation potential of gut microbiota of clinical depressed patients.
For the purpose, I enriched fecal microbiota in the enrichment media and then prepare 50 ml basic salt medium (per sample) for the experiment. I used the fecal microbiota
and ciprofloxacin concentration of 4 ug/ml, mix in BSM and incubate for 7 days anaerobically. This is my whole experimental model.
Now, lets come to my question. I want to check the function of Ciprofloxacin and the degraded products in the BSM. For this purpose, I used Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). But whenever i analyzed my sample through FTIR i got the peaks which is of the salts in the medium. Like, I was expecting to get the either the peaks of CIP or other degraded products.
