Dear all,
I am trying to sinter FeCrNiCoMn a multi-component non-equimolar system. As per the pseudo-binary phase diagram its melting point is 1326 degrees Celsius.
I have tried to do so in two environments (1) Hydrogen Gas (2) Vacuum and Inert.
In vacuum Chromium evaporated and in Hydrogen environment severe internal cracking of sample was observed accompanied by a greenish Chromium Oxide appearance.
As per the Ellingham Diagram only Aluminum has greater affinity for oxygen than chromium but if I would include Al into the system then Aluminum oxide will form which is also undesirable.
(Please see the attached image for illustration)
Therefore, please guide me.
Regards
