We are testing CTAB containing composite material for antiviral activity: incubating the virus solution with material and then removing the virus solution and trying to infect cells with it. The problem is, that material contains CTAB, which dissolves in virus solution during incubation and kills a lot of cells regardless of the virus activity. Is there an easy way to precipitate or passivate dissolved CTAB, so it does not affect cells anymore?

(Reagent should not be very cytotoxic by itself too)
