I am trying to design antenna for 5g applications using hfss. Can anyone guide me step by step procedure as I am not getting optimum results for VSWR using hfss.
Poor VSWR is an indication of the mismatch between the antenna and the feed line or port. Do you know the impedance of the antenna? Do you know the impedance of the transmission line feed to the antenna? What is the impedance of the port you are using in HFSS versus the impedance transmission line that you are connecting the port to? Knowing the answers would help in solving the issue.
The VSWR value should be close to 1. This indicates the effectiveness of the coupling, and that a large part of the energy is transmitted to the antenna with very little reflection. So, in your simulation you must adjust the return loss (RL) to values below -10dB, corresponding to 10% reflected power.
@Mohamed K. Emara, sir in HFSS i found the provison of Full port impedence and I set it to 50ohms.Now I got VSWR as 0.7dB, is it ok?. In various research papers at same freq rangei found the VSWR about 0.2 Or 0.3 dB. It should be near to 1 dB so my design is better than thoes in papers?
Moreover I didn't find provision to check input impedence of port, where is it in HFSS?
@Roterdan Abreu, sir thanks for your reply. In my design, I get the gain as 6.95 and return losses as -27. 7dB.is it acceptable? Moreover as I implement array with this design, gain reduces to 5.23.what should I do?
