In my experience as a reviewer, I frequently encounter two issues in articles by newer researchers. First, there is no clear "problem statement," which is often the final element in the introduction. Second, the literature review simply repeats what is in the literature, which tells me things that I already know instead of making a case for how this article adds new knowledge.

Without these two components, I arrive at the methods section with too little information about either what you are doing (problem statement) or why you are doing it (targeted literature review). So, make sure that the beginning of your paper is dedicated to addressing these "what" and "why" issues.

I agree with Prof David L Morgan that a lot of papers I review also do not clearly show why their study has a clear purpose and how they address deficiencies of previous studies (which they should clearly address in the literature review). As a reviewer, I want to know "what is the problem", "how have you addressed the problem and why is this study better than everything that has been done before".

A lot of people seem to think that what they need for their study/paper is totally original and nobody has had the idea before. I disagree. I think you can use the same concept but you have to show why your method/approach is better than others before. Most of the manuscripts I read do not show this adequately.

getting your paper published is the most hectic time in the life of a scholar. new scholars who do not follow the guidelines of the journal get their papers rejected as soon as they submit them. there are certain procedures which you can follow. to get your paper published.

first, check the relevant journal related to your field.

second check the journal guidelines for publishing.

if you want to opt for paid ten first of all communicate with the editors for all details.

there are research journalss two publish your paper for free. but the most important thing is what your paper is all about. which domain.

check out the papers of the jhournal where you want to submit your paper. first read that paper and cross check whether your paper follow that or not. it can least take around 4 to 6 months for publication at least

On one hand, each scholar has his or her own issues that can be the causes for rejection, but on the other hand, there are certain measures that scholars can take to increase their publication success rate. (1) One mistake that I see too many times is researchers read only the rejection line, neglecting the list of the reasons for the rejection that some editors include in their response. Simply rewrite your paper according to those recommendations and send it back. Chances are, though, the editor will reject your article, again, listing the reasons, again. Don't get discouraged. Just follow his or her suggestions and send your work back for yet another review. (2) Many researchers in hard sciences, such as chemistry, biology, physics, aren’t flexible enough to revise their papers to ensure their work becomes a good fit for a specific publication. Taking writing courses can help. That’s what I did: I was an acupuncturist whose articles nobody wanted to publish. So I began taking writing courses at the New York University. To my surprise, the editors who claimed that my articles weren’t good enough gladly published the same papers after my revisions, because editors, after all, are human beings, and they often fall for dramatic devices, even when the articles aren’t really that good. I recently discovered, however, that some researchers are creative enough to hire professional writers to help them revise their work for publication. A few professors quickly found me once my articles were published on the National Institutes of Health’s website. You don’t need to go that far, though. Simply having an extra pair of eyes looking over your paper can be enough to find any inconsistencies or areas that can be rewritten for clarity. I hope this helps.

I second David Morgan's opinion. However, as someone who mentored a number of successful doctoral students, I understand that understanding and doing are two different things. You may understand the need to state the "gap in the literature" and how your work addresses that gap but being able to clearly articulate the gap is often difficult for inexperienced scholars.

One solution is to work with an experienced scholar as a second author. Over time, you will get better at it and if you are persistent, it does get easier.

In addition, I assume that the papers you are trying to publish stem from your dissertation. Remember that while a dissertation is inclusive (the kitchen sink approach), a manuscript is much narrower in scope. It should introduce ONE "gap" and subsequently limit the rest of the paper to one particular problem statement. Thus, the lit review, the research design, the analysis and conclusions should all be narrowly focused on that one statement problem.

I would like to suggest adding the motivation.  Perhaps it is not as important in the soft science as it in hard sciences.  I find it hard to read a paper if I do not know why this paper was written and why does anyone bother reading it.     In fact when writing any paper one should consider why this paper is important.  Another advice that seems to me was not  mentioned is the ease of reading. If one has to guess what you mean,  it is not good.  Elicit writing from a logical point of view, not English is important. The suggestion that I saw before have experience co--author is good not only because help in writing but the Networking.

I completely agree with Dr. Genick Bar-Meir in that a publishable article needs to be logically sound. In fact, the logical sequence of the author(s) arguments is what makes academic papers useful. Interestingly enough, there was an article published in the Atlantic in 2018 about fake papers being published by scholarly journals (https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2018/10/new-sokal-hoax/572212/). If you read one of those articles, you’ll see that they are logically cohesive, which is most likely why the editors did not reject them.

You might find the seven steps by Shaikh (2016) helpful. Most importantly, you should keep in mind that several manuscript rejections could happen to the novice and seasoned researchers in academic publishing; therefore, you should keep the ball rolling—do not give up or feel disappointed—while addressing the raised issues by reviewers.

Critical thinking, critical reflections, critical readings, etc. are some of the pieces of advice to offer to you for now, dear colleague.

I was a nurse practitioner and had my research and other articles that were commissioned published by the Mark Allen Group, for example, British Journal of Nursing. They were a publishing group who published the type of articles that I wrote.

I also reviewed for them.

I don't think I would have had such a good working relationship with more academic publications that were not specifically for nurses, who read this journal. They published quite a lot of my articles and it was this publishing group that published my research. But this was good, as it was nurses who I wanted to be aware of my research.

So, this was fine by me!
