I am trying to design a capacitor by using BaTiO3 as the dielectric.
As the dielectric constant of BaTiO3 is about 4000 , I expected that the capacitance will increase 4000 times than the air capacitance.
I measure the capacitance of a capacitor designing by two 1 square cm coper plates separated by a distance of 1 mm.
Then BaTiO3 is inserted instead of air.
The capacitance is increasing by 12 times
Can anyone please tell me, what may be the possible reason for this?

Firstly how did you get accurate thickness of BaTiO3? As you know, the capacitance is inversely proportional to the thickness. The accuracy of thickness is a factor to affect your results.
Secondly, how did you get excellent contacts between your metal plates and BaTiO3?
Thirdly, the uniformity of BaTiO3 across your copper plate electrodes?
All the above factors affect your results significantly.

Thanks a lot for your nice comments.
The thickness is measured by digital micrometer of least count 0.0001 cm= 0.001 mm = 1 micro meter.
The contact was made by using silver paste.
I doubt the proper contact of BaTiO3.
Can you please suggest any good method for making good contact of BaTiO3 with copper plate?
