I'm running AnyLogic University 7.3.6.201610041935 x64 on a Windows Server 2008.
Two days ago on building the model I started seeing the following errors pop up.
1) 'Description: Cannot switch on a value of type String for source level below 1.7. Only convertible int values or enum variables are permitted.'
2) 'Description: '' operator is not allowed for source level below 1.7.'
The system runs java version "1.8.0_191". I'm not entirely sure how to debug this and I'd appreciate any help I could get.
It seems you did build your project with java version 6 or below.
Soe either:
In your project's preferences, you must set the compiler --source option to 1.7 and --target option to 1.7 also.
Or
don't use this notation, it is not supported by java 6 and below:
SomeGenericClass foo = new SomeGenericClass
Write it that way:
SomeGenericClass foo = new SomeGenericClass

Okay I looked into Anylogic. AnyLogic uses built-in JRE, located in AnyLogic installation folder. Check the version of that.
Just chang "" to "!=". For instance
if (5 != 6) System.out.println("5 is not equal to 6"); //correct
if (5 6) System.out.println("5 is not equal to 6"); //incorrect, syntax error
