Hi there, i read an article called:"self-assembly of emulsion droplets through programmable folding".It's a really good article, but i'm so confused about one graph,is there anyone know the meaning?Please tell me I'd be so appreciated!!!(downbelow the left one)

As far as I can see, these polymers have switchable interactions - in figure A the blue-blue interactions is "switched on" leading to one structure while in figure B the yellow-yellow interaction is switched on leading to two different structures - thus being less useful. The square scheme is just showing what's currently interacting and what's not. For deeper question, contact the corresponding author - most people are happy when someone actually cares about their research.
