I am investigating the the Youngs modulus and Poissons ratio of a CAC silicone hose (Armid fabric embedded). Is there any test to determine the Poissons ratio experimentally, I am conducting a tensile test for determining the Youngs modulus according to ASTM 412 standard. We dont have any strain guages that are associated with the UTM for determining Poisson ratio. Is there a way to find the shear modulus and reverse calculate the Poisson ratio with the known Youngs modulus? If yes, how the test bench will look like. Just for the information, the hose material is a composite and i cannot mould it to a new form as desired.
