When bagasse is treated with [Emim]Ac and [Amim]Cl, the bagasse becomes completely resolved, and the homocellulose can be recovered by adding water or ethanol in the solution. However when I did it , the recovery was less than 40%, is there any conditions that have been ignored?
Are the 40% recovered material 40% of the total biomass you dissolved or 40% of the homocellulose (do you mean holocellulose, btw?) you expected? Did you dry the bagasse before dissolving it?
If it is 40% of the total dry biomass you dissolved, the rest should be lignin and other non-cellulose components of the bagasse...
Recovery rates strongly depend on the temperature and concentration (as well as purity of the ILs). I would use higher temperature for the dissolution and the crystallize the bio-polymer in the fridge.
Before starting the extraction, you must know that homo (holo)cellulose is a polymer which can be hydrolyzed very easily. It appears that you did not check the treatment method of bagasse to check its suitability. You just went by the published report. May be you need to validate a suitable method for this purpose.
Dear Andreas, thanks for your answer, 40% means 40% of the total biomass and the the bagasse was dried at 45℃for 72h. But I do not agree with your opinion that the rest should be lignin and other non-cellulose components of the bagasse. I think part of the rest should be recovered but I failed to make it .
Dear Boyan, thanks for your suggestion, ' the recovery rates depend on the temperature and concentraion ', the temperature and concentration mean the condition during the preatment process or the regenerate process , if it is the latter one, what temperature should be ?
