Hello everybody. I'm trying to construct a map of the Brazilian Amazon, for in which cell I can describe the number of available Landsat/MODIS (separetely) images, within a arbitrary determined period, that has less than a given cloud cover percentage. Any suggestions of how to efficiently produce this data?
Via USGS EarthExplorer you can at least search for Landsat data for a defined time period with additional options to filter the results based on percentage of cloud cover, all for a given 'Area of Interest'. E.g., I searched for Landsat 8 data over Amazon from 2013 to 2018 with less than 10% of cloud cover and the results returned 5213 scenes. Similarly, you can search for MODIS Surface Reflectance products.
I think there are several other (e.g., https://search.earthdata.nasa.gov ) options that will help you to get the desired Landsat/MODIS data that you are looking for. Yet another platform for searching, analyzing and visualizing large amounts of data is Google Earth Engine (GEE) which is gaining a lot of popularity both among the users as well as the developers community. Do explore these options.
Dear Mariane, you can use also EO Browser (https://apps.sentinel-hub.com/eo-browser/). In my opinion is more user friendly than Earth Explorer. You can choose satellites, time range and cloud coverage of your area of interest.
Hello, thank you all for you answers. I didn't understand one thing in those, though: am I supposed to assess the number of images for each path/row (let's focus on landsat data for now) one by one? Or to download them? All I want is really a shapefile with the images' footprints and the number of images at path/row .
