I have analyzed dyes effluent samples for before and after treatment, I want proper method of FTIR interpretation. Is it applicable in degradation study or not?
In FTIR curve, you will find absorption peaks corresponding to specific wave numbers of bonds/stretches. The presence of absorption peaks at definite wave number zones confirms the presence of any bonds in a sample. All you require is to have a data sheet which relates the absorption peaks with the corresponding wave number; tally your data with that reference and interpret.
Please search the FTIR characterization of the dye of interest in good journal papers and see the spectra of molecules. You may get variation (e.g., disappear) of some IR peaks of functional groups of the dyes before and after degradation experiment. Interpret it qualitatively
