In DMA Q800, Dynamic calibration includes loading of 4 steel samples of 0.005, 0.010, 0.020 and 0.030 inches. I have done calibration using all these steel samples. When I checked to analyze report an error prompts "Bad Calibration. Could not save the data". Because of this I am not able to use the instrument. How can I avoid this error? Please suggest the correct way of calibration.
Try to do position, force, and clamp calibrations first. Make sure the compliance value is within the acceptable range. When doing dynamic calibration, start with the thickest sample first.

I have received error messages in the past, because I touched a button on the touchscreen or pressed a menu option while the final analysis after all calibration steps was running. Make sure not to do that. If you give me the error number, I may be able to guide you better. If the error you are getting is as follows, this might help:
Error 320: Bad dynamic calibration results. Results not saved.
Problem: The lowest compliance, or thinnest sample, used in the dynamic calibration procedure was too weak. Use a steel sample that is between 0.12 mm (0.005 inch) and 2.0 mm (0.08 inch) thick.
Solution: Run the dynamic calibration procedure again, but make sure that you do not use the weak sample to gather your data.
However, I would not proceed with dynamic calibration before fixing the compliance issue first, as it will affect the accuracy of your measurements. I would check the following before repeating the calibration:
1. Does the air line connected to DMA provide enough pressure? (60-65 psi)
2. Have you mounted the stationary and movable clamps correctly?
3. Is your purge gas/GCA pressure within the acceptable limit?
4. Are you clamping the standard samples with the right torque? (8-10 lb.in)

It happened with me once. It can be related with the weakest calibration sample (i.e. the thinnest steel sample). Best way is washing all the stell samples with alcohol and increase the torque when placing the sample. It will avoid the sample to slip. When I did that this message desappeared.
