How to do a proper convergence check in a model with many different parts in ABAQUS?

How can I do proper convergence check in an impact analysis in ABAQUS where there are an impactor and a sandwich panel? Should I condense the mesh at the impactor and the sandwich panel as well in every step to check for convergence?
